What happens to synthetic hair when it gets wet?

I have not had synthetic hair braids in years and I was curious. I want to focrotchet braids because they cause the least amount of damage to my hair based on my persoanl experience with different braiding techniques. I just cannot remember what happens to synthetic hair, wether straight, braieded or curled, when wet? I know you cannot curl synthetic hair as it will burn... PLEASE HELP! BTW... I ask because I am going on vacation and want to do the crotchet braids but I plan on doing ALOT of swimming. Thanks!

Synthetic hair gets really heavy when it gets wet, and because the weight (especially in a salty sea water) curls will straighten out. I have had MANY different kind of synthetic hair extencions and the worst thing for them is the sea water.

It will be messy and you wont be able to comb it or style it into perfect look. Bring some gel or cream to deal with the hair.
